Some ChatGPT subscribers are reporting a new feature, “Study Together,” appearing in their available tools list. This mode aims to transform the chatbot into a more effective educational tool, reportedly asking users questions rather than simply providing answers, akin to OpenAI’s potential response to Google’s LearnLM. There’s speculation it might also support multi-user study groups.
OpenAI has not commented on the feature, and ChatGPT itself stated, “OpenAI hasn’t officially announced when or if Study Together will be available to all users — or if it will require ChatGPT Plus.” This development is significant given ChatGPT’s established, albeit sometimes controversial, presence in education. The feature could encourage beneficial uses of AI in learning while potentially mitigating academic dishonesty.
