While Starlink price may seem somewhat high, the satellite internet service offered by SpaceX has a lot to offer, particularly for those living in areas with limited or no access to high-speed internet.

Starlink is a satellite internet service developed by SpaceX, a private space exploration company owned by Elon Musk. The goal of Starlink is to provide high-speed internet access to people around the world, particularly in remote and rural areas where traditional internet infrastructure is either limited or nonexistent.

Unlike traditional internet infrastructure, which relies on a network of cables and towers, Starlink uses a constellation of satellites orbiting the Earth. As of September 2021, SpaceX has launched over 1,800 Starlink satellites, with plans to eventually launch tens of thousands more. These satellites communicate with ground stations to provide internet access to users with a small dish antenna.

Starlink has the potential to change the world’s internet access by providing high-speed internet to areas that currently lack it. In many rural and remote areas, traditional internet infrastructure is either prohibitively expensive or simply not feasible. This can leave these areas at a disadvantage in terms of education, commerce, and communication. With Starlink, these areas could potentially have access to the same high-speed internet as more urban areas, allowing them to participate fully in the global economy and society. But sadly, Starlink price is kinda… Salty.

Starlink price and availability

Last summer, the Starlink RV package promised users access to the internet from anywhere on their continent. Now, it has been rebranded as Starlink Roam, which offers regional access for $150 per month and global use for $200 per month, with the option to choose between a portable antenna or one for in-motion use. However, the service doesn’t sound entirely reliable, as users have been warned of brief periods of poor connectivity or none at all.

The global service can only be ordered in countries where Starlink is available, according to the FAQ page. However, it’s unclear whether the service will still be available in countries where Starlink is not allowed, such as India, Pakistan, and Cambodia, as regulatory approval is still pending. In an interview with the Financial Times, Elon Musk revealed that the Chinese government has made its disapproval of Starlink’s recent rollout clear.

This Starlink price is not the only one

Starlink already offers a $5,000 per month plan for those looking for internet access while at sea, and its Flat High-Performance dish is also available for in-motion use on RVs and other vehicles. However, the recent announcement comes just one day after Amazon unveiled its Project Kuiper customer terminals, which may compete with Starlink in the future.

Starlink coverage map

Satisfied with the Starlink price? All you need to do to get Starlink internet access left is to check the availability of the service from their Starlink coverage map.

The mapping tool for Starlink enables users to find out which areas are still open for new customers. The mapping feature is available on Starlink’s official website, which you can access via this link, and it provides a global overview of the markets currently served by Starlink.

A closer look at the map for North America reveals that Starlink has sufficient capacity in the US Midwest, but many densely populated regions in the East and West Coasts are marked as “low capacity” zones. Users can simply enter their address to determine if their location is open for new orders. If the mapping feature is not visible, zooming out will likely resolve the issue.

The mapping tool is a significant first for SpaceX, as it’s the first time the company has provided real-time geographic information on Starlink cell sites. With over 250,000 users globally, the tool will undoubtedly be welcomed by prospective Starlink customers seeking to identify locations with open capacity.
