Swiss Post introduced the “Swiss Crypto Stamp,” the first stamp of its sort in Switzerland, claiming that it will “bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds in philately.”
What is Swiss Crypto stamp?
There are major parts to the crypto stamp. Every crypto stamp has a corresponding digital image in addition to the physical stamp, which costs CHF8.90 ($9.50). This digital image, which is kept in a blockchain and may be gathered, traded, and transferred online, depicts one of 13 possible designs.
Swiss Post said in a statement that:
“At first glance, the Swiss Crypto Stamp looks like any ordinary stamp. It is self-adhesive, shows the Matterhorn and the moon on a blue background, and has a face value of 8.90 francs. Owners can use it to frank postal items just like any other stamp. But the actual crypto stamp is digital. and it is a digital collector’s item. Every physical Swiss Crypto Stamp provides access to a digital stamp stored in a blockchain.”
Customers that purchase a crypto stamp are unaware of the associated digital design. Only when customers go online do they learn what the digital replica of their physical stamp looks like. According to Swiss Post, this can be accessed by scanning a QR code that is printed next to the actual stamp. Customers can examine their digital crypto stamp online by scanning this code.
How do I get a Swiss Crypto Stamp?
A total of 175,000 stamps will be issued, with 65,000 copies of the most common digital design but just 50 of the rarest. Starting on November 25, a few Swiss Post locations will sell the Swiss Crypto Stamp. Any branch, as well as online at www.postshop.ch, accepts orders for it. What is a crypto stamp?
A crypto stamp is a real-world postage stamp that comes with a blockchain-based non-fungible token (NFT). A cryptographic key in the NFT enables the collection, exchange, and trading of crypto stamps.
In 2021, Swiss Post released Swiss Crypto Stamp 1.0. On August 8 today, 2022, Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 is ready to debut.

“Following the Swiss National Bank, which in 2017 selected the Locarno Film Festival to appear on the 20-franc bank note as a symbol of Switzerland’s creativity, Swiss Post is also showing its ties to our cultural event once again,” said Marco Solari, President of the Locarno Film Festival.
For many years, The Swiss Post has supported and collaborated with the film festival.
There are 10 unique designs available for the Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0. A postage stamp and its digital NFT counterpart make up each design. A cryptographic key is required to access the NFTs, which are kept in the blockchain. A crypto stamp costs 9 francs per unit.
Based on a partnership with Switzerland’s biggest film festival, Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 was created. The NFTs, which are brief video clips rather than still photos, were produced by ten upcoming Swiss directors.
Switzerland has been interpreted differently by Valentin Merz, Samuel Patthey, Elie Grappe, Klaudia Reynicke, Maya Kosa, Sergio da Costa, Denise Fernandes, Cyril Schaüblin, Nora Longatti, Yan Hirschbühl, and Elene Naveriani.
In their eyes, the NFTs symbolize ten images of contemporary Switzerland. Social cohesiveness, integration, ecological awareness, and time are some of these symbols.
Today at 7:30 a.m., the Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 goes on sale. Anyone who purchases Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 is eligible to enter a drawing to win one of only 50 11th NFTs. You can explore each design by visiting the official website.
