The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is a phone tailored to power users, taking the place of the Samsung Galaxy Note line while incorporating its best feature while also offering a slew of other improvements. Yes, there’s an S Pen included, but Samsung is aiming to top our best phone list by putting a lot more into this flagship.

The S Pen is more responsive and has less latency, as Samsung improved it by 70 percent with the same level of precision. The display is also very bright, rated at 1,750 nits. Here’s another number I’m sure you’ll appreciate: 45 watts. With the Galaxy S22 Ultra, you now have faster 45W charging for that huge 5,000 mAh battery, which will charge it up to 50% in just 20 minutes.

However, enough about statistics for the moment. Samsung is aiming to take the title of best camera phone from the iPhone 13 Pro Max and Google Pixel 6 Pro with a slew of modifications, including a larger primary sensor for greater low-light photos, an AI-powered portrait mode, and a new Super Clear lens.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra design

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is a basic but beautiful device. I love the sharp, square edges, as well as the fact that the cameras aren’t crammed in with a loud bulge. They’re closer to the handset’s backside. The design is clean and minimalist.

The 6.8-inch screen has a gently curved design, which provides visual appeal without causing unintentional touches.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra comes in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, and Burgundy.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra display

Samsung has taken things to a new level with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which features a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate. The same as before, you get a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling during our hands-on time. Gamers will appreciate the 240Hz touch sampling rate.

However, there are two notable display improvements. The screen has a peak brightness of 1,750 nits, which might be the brightest we’ve ever seen. (The normal brightness setting is 1,250 nits.)

Another feature is a new Vision Booster function, which can instantly alter the screen’s brightness throughout the day. Even in harsh sunlight, you should not have any trouble using the S22 Ultra outdoors because of this.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra cameras

For capturing more light and data, the Galaxy S22 Ultra has a larger.2.4um pixel sensor, as well as a Super Clear Glass lens for recording nighttime videos without flare-ups. You also get a 12MP ultrawide lens, as well as dual 10MP telephoto lenses that combine to provide 10x optical zoom and 100x space zoom.

With its camera system, Samsung appears to be putting a lot of effort into computational photography. There’s adaptive pixel technology that merges 9 pixels together for brighter pictures in low light, enhanced AI high-res enhancement and 4x faster multi-frame processing.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra also makes use of AI Stereo Depth Maps for improved portraits. I was pleased with how sharp the collar on my black shirt appeared against the blurred background in a selfie taken with the 40MP front camera. And I could detect more details in my face mask.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra battery and charging

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has a huge 5,000 mAH battery, which Samsung claims can last over a day in normal use.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra includes 45W charging, which is an upgrade from the 25W charging in the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Samsung promises that you will be able to achieve 50% charge in 20 minutes, about 10 minutes faster than the S21 Ultra.

Keep in mind that you’ll need to buy a 45W charger since Samsung does not include one with the phone.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra S Pen

The Galaxy S22 Ultra’s S Pen is smooth. Samsung has reduced the latency from 9 milliseconds to 2.8 milliseconds, which is a 70% decrease in lag.

Not only does the Galaxy S22 Ultra employ artificial intelligence to simulate pen and paper with its AI technology, but it also makes use of it to anticipate your hand movements and provide you with the sense of writing.

The finest feature of this phone is that it doesn’t require the use of a case, as with the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The phone has an S Pen holder built-in.

Samsung has made a few more notable S Pen adjustments, including improved handwriting-to-text conversions and the ability to quickly save notes in Microsoft Office documents and emails.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra release date and price

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is now available for pre-order, with a February 25 release date.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra’s starting price is $1,199. The cost of increasing storage capacity to 256GB is $1,299, while upgrading to 512GB costs $1,399 and 1TB costs $1,599.
