Today, MediaTek unveiled the first live demonstration of Wi-Fi 7 technology, showcasing the features of its forthcoming Wi-Fi 7 Filogic connectivity portfolio. To show the technology’s ultra-fast speeds and low latency transmission, MediaTek is testing two Wi-Fi 7 demos on select clients and industry partners.

MediaTek shows the world’s first live demos of Wi-Fi 7 technology

Alan Hsu, corporate vice president and general manager of the Intelligent Connectivity business at MediaTek stated that:

“The rollout of Wi-Fi 7 will mark the first time that Wi-Fi can be a true wireline/Ethernet replacement for super high-bandwidth applications. MediaTek’s Wi-Fi 7 technology will be the backbone of home, office and industrial networks and provide seamless connectivity for everything from multi-player AR/VR applications to cloud gaming and 4K calls to 8K streaming and beyond.”

According to the demo shown by the company the Wi-Fi 7 Filogic technology from MediaTek has the ability to offer the maximum speed set by IEEE 802.11be standard. It also supports multi-link operation (MLO) technology. MLO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) technology combines numerous channels on multiple frequencies bands at the same time to demonstrate how network traffic may still flow smoothly despite any blocking or congestion on the bands. The MLO technology will be crucial for delivering faster and more reliable video streaming, gaming, and other applications that require constant, continuous, and real-time throughput.

MediaTek has long been a major player in the development of the Wi-Fi 7 standard. Moon Ho Lee, president at Korea Mercury said that:

“Today’s consumers want an always-connected, reliable and fast Wi-Fi connection for many applications such as video calls, 4K/8K TV entertainment, real-time gaming, and others. MediaTek’s Wi-Fi 7 technology can fulfill the current need for all the applications consumers enjoy today and also open the door for future AR/VR applications which we can’t even imagine today.”
