MediaTek has just announced its new 5G mid-range processors: the new MediaTek Dimensity 810 and MediaTek Dimensity 920, the moderate refresh of the previous Dimensity 800 and Dimensity 900 respectively.

Like the rest of their range, the Dimensity 920 and 810 bring 5G connectivity to the mid-range, with a little extra power over their direct predecessors and in both cases with 6-nanometer lithography.

MediaTek Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810: A little more power for the 5G mid-range

The Dimensity 920 is positioned as the company’s new mid-range 5G processor and, for now, the last step before moving on to its more powerful processors, starting with the Dimensity 1000 and above.

With 6-nanometer lithography, the Dimensity 920 is a slightly better Dimensity 900, with eight cores in total. Two Cortex-A78 at up to 2.5 GHz and six Cortex-A55 at up to 2 GHz. According to MediaTek, it’s about 9% more powerful than its predecessor. The GPU included is an ARM Mali-G68 MC4.

Other aspects remain the same, including support for Full HD+ displays at 120 Hz, camera up to 108MP, LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1, or connectivity to the latest: 5G SA and NSA, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2.

On the other hand, we have the MediaTek Dimensity 810, also with 6-nanometer construction. With eight cores in total, they are split half and half: four Cortex-A76 at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 at 2GHz. It is the same configuration as the MediaTek Dimensity 800U, with the difference that this one is 7 nm. The GPU is ARM’s Mali-G57 MC2.

The MediaTek Dimensity 810 also supports Full HD+ displays with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, although other aspects are a step below the 900 series. For example, camera support remains at 64MP for one lens or 16MP + 16MP when combining several.

5G SA or NSA connectivity is guaranteed, accompanied by Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1, with support for LPDDR4x memory and UFS 2.2 storage. Both the MediaTek Dimensity 920 and 810 will be released globally in this third quarter of the year, so we could see the first phones with them on board any time now.
