Colored MacBook Airs to arrive in 2022 with a new M2 chip. The MacBook Air will be the first of many new additions to Apple’s computer portfolio. This new device will feature the new M2 processor and will follow in the footsteps of the iMac M1.
We are getting closer and closer to Apple continuing to renew its products. A renewal of the iMac range for professionals, new Mac Mini, and above all new MacBooks are expected to solve the rough edges that the first Mac M1 launched in a lot of countries had. One of the first to do so will be the future MacBook Air.
We already knew that the next MacBook Air would have as its centerpiece a design very similar to what we saw in the 24-inch iMacs, with a renewed color palette and adopting the same design lines. However, developer and leaker DylanDkt have given more details about this future laptop.
Just wanted to share some details on when to expect the next generation M2 (not the M1X which is reserved for the Pro Mac devices). This processor is on track to release in the first half of 2022 alongside the upcoming colorful Macbook (Air).

The most important is that in addition to the color issue, it would confirm that Apple will debut the second generation of M processors with the Apple M2 that would be launched with this laptop in the first half of 2022.
A colored MacBook Air
Dylan’s tweet is straightforward. He assures that the second generation of the first Apple Silicon processors will debut with the MacBook Air. Regarding the doubt about the future Mac for professionals, the Mac Pro, Apple would launch a range of exclusive processors, the M1X that would stand out for having extra power to meet the needs of these users.
The key to this leak is that Dylan himself already gave juicy information about the 24-inch iMac and the iPad Pro 2021, which premiered inside the M1 processor. In addition, what the leaker said is certainly already known to us; without going any further, Jon Prosser already said something similar months ago about what will be the cheapest MacBook in Apple’s Apple Silicon line.
According to Prosser at the time, Apple would bring an extensive color palette to the MacBook Air. Presumably, the same palette we’ve seen on the 24-inch iMac, inheriting the same white bezels and keyboards. In addition, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, there will be a Mini-LED display variant of this laptop in 2022.
With the presentation of the M1, there was some doubt as to what would happen to the Mac Pro, Apple’s most professional processors, which currently use Intel processors due to the power requirements of their users.
These new processors could arrive in a “mid-format” Mac Pro that would have up to 32 cores of power, along with GPUs of up to 128 cores. Again, processors are dedicated to content creation and multimedia management at a professional level.
It is unlikely that we will see a Mac Pro with Apple Silicon so soon, especially with rumors of a new Intel-based Mac to be released this year or next year. Be that as it may, we will find out at the end of the year, when Apple returns to present products at future events, such as the iPhone 13.
