OPPO has just presented in China its new batch of premium mid-range and high-end devices, the OPPO Reno 6. And we speak in plural because the company has presented not one or two, but three devices each one more powerful. Thus, the new family of phones is composed of the OPPO Reno 6, OPPO Reno 6 Pro, and OPPO Reno 6 Pro+.

Both devices are very similar on the outside and at first glance (although there are details). The differences are inside (processor, mainly) and in the photographic section, as we will see now. Before getting to know them better, it is worth noting that the phones have been presented in China and that, for now, nothing is known about their global availability.

Similar to the naked eye

OPPO Reno 6, Reno 6 Pro, and Reno 6 Pro+: 90Hz AMOLED displays conquer OPPO's new premium/high-end mid-range phones

As we can see, the three devices are quite similar to each other. They all share that glossy finish and, except for slight variations in size and bezels, very similar on the back. The back of the devices is, leaving the glossy finish aside, very simple. We only find the module with the camera (three or four, depending on the phone) and little else, since the fingerprint reader has been taken under the screen.

And speaking of the screen, the three OPPO Reno 6 mount OLED panels with FullHD+ resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels), 90Hz refresh rate, and 180Hz touch refresh rate. They reproduce a wide spectrum of the DCI-P3 color space, exceed 400 pixels per inch in all cases, and are protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

The main difference is in the side bezels. While the OPPO Reno 6 has smooth bezels (slightly reminiscent of the iPhone 12), the OPPO Reno 6 Pro and Pro+ have a generous curvature whose explanation is simple: while the display of the base model is flat, that of its siblings is curved.

But different inside

OPPO Reno 6, Reno 6 Pro, and Reno 6 Pro+: 90Hz AMOLED displays conquer OPPO's new premium/high-end mid-range phones

The first difference is the processor. The OPPO Reno 6 is the first phone to mount the new MediaTek Dimensity 900, a premium mid-range SoC recently introduced by MediaTek. Its big brother, the OPPO Reno 6 Pro, mounts a MediaTek Dimensity 1200, which we are already familiar with, while the Pro+ model is the only one to feature a Qualcomm SoC. Specifically, the Snapdragon 870, a high-end processor somewhere between the Snapdragon 865 and the Snapdragon 888.

The rest of the engine components remain the same. That way, the three models mount between eight and 12GB LPDDR4x RAM and between 128 and 256GB non-expandable internal storage. There is one detail worth noting, and that is that the two Pro siblings have UFS 3.1 memories and not UFS 2.1, so they are significantly faster.

The battery is 4,300mAh in the OPPO Reno 6 and 4,500mAh in the OPPO Reno 6 Pro and Reno6 Pro+. There should not be a substantial difference in the final autonomy, but a matter of waiting to find out for sure. All three devices share the quick charging technology, which amounts to 65W. The same goes for the operating system, which is Android 11 with ColorOS 11.3, and connectivity: all are compatible with 5G networks.

Three camera configurations

We finish by reviewing the photographic section. Unlike in other sections, in this one, we have three configurations ranging from more to fewer options. The OPPO Reno 6 has a 64MP OmniVision OV64B main camera, an 8MP Sony IMX355 wide-angle, and a 2MP OmniVision OV02B10 macro. No surprises there, it’s a familiar configuration.

Then we have the OPPO Reno 6 Pro, which mounts the same batch of cameras but adds a 2MP monochrome camera. And finally, we have the OPPO Reno 6 Pro+, which mounts a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera with OIS, a 16MP Sony IMX481 wide-angle, a 13MP Samsung S5K3M5 telephoto (with optical zoom to be determined), and a 2MP OV02B10-A25A macro.

The more powerful model drops the monochrome and goes for a telephoto. The resolution of the front camera is the same in the three mobiles: 32MP.

OPPO Reno 6, OPPO Reno 6 Pro, and OPPO Reno 6 Pro+ price and release date

As we previously indicated, the OPPO Reno 6, OPPO Reno 6 Pro, and OPPO Reno 6 Pro + have been announced in China, where they can already be reserved. For now, we do not know if OPPO will bring them to some countries, although seeing the history of the brand it would not be strange that this was the case. In any case, we will be pending. The prices of the phones are as follows:

PRICES
OPPO RENO 6 8/128GB: Starting from $399
