Huawei FreeBuds 4i: New TWS with increased battery life

Huawei announced FreeBuds 4i, a new TWS even without being the most affordable, is still stays below the Huawei FreeBuds Pro in price.

The direct heirs of the Huawei FreeBuds 3i maintain one of its main features: active noise cancellation. We also see that the design is broadly maintained, although there are some changes in both the headphones and the charging case.

Huawei FreeBuds 4i specifications

  • Headset type: In-ear
  • Weight: 5.5g each earphone and 36.5g case
  • Dimensions: Earpiece: 37,5 x 23,9 x 21mm and case: 48 x 61.8 x 27.5mm
  • Design and connections: USB-C, active noise cancellation
  • Diaphragm unit: 10mm
  • Battery: Handset: 55mAh, Case: 215mAh, and up to 10 hours of battery life (7.5 hours with ANC)
  • Recharging time: Charging of headphones with case: 1-hour Case: 90 minutes
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.2

Design change and better battery life

As we said, the Huawei Freebuds 4i maintains the format, although we see that the design lines have changed slightly with respect to the FreeBuds 3i. The bar is shorter and somewhat thicker and the part of the earphone is more curved and stylized, being available in white, red, or black.

This design, according to the manufacturer, is more convenient in terms of the resistance it offers to wind noise. This, together with active noise cancellation and a dual microphone system, promises to give a good experience.

What does change the most is the charging case. Now the FreeBuds fit vertically, i.e. there is a hole for the bar, and the case is not as elongated as in the 3i. Also, the charging case weighs about 20 grams less.

In addition to the case design, another major change is the battery, for better and for worse. The headphones go from integrating a 37mAh battery to 55mAh, which promises an autonomy of up to 10 hours or 7.5 hours with active noise cancellation. To these hours is added one more thanks to the case, which goes from 410mAh to 215mAh (compared to the FreeBuds 3i).

The brand promises 10 minutes of charging in its case about four hours of playback. If we want a full charge, this is done in an hour, and the case itself The entire charge of the headphones takes 1 hour in the box while charging the case takes 90 minutes.

Another feature that remains is gesture control, with sensors on both the headphones and the case (so that pairing happens without having to take the headphones out). The connection to the mobile device is via Bluetooth 5.2.

Huawei FreeBuds 4i versions and prices

For now, the new Huawei FreeBuds 4i has been presented in China and we don’t know the launch price in that market. But for the moment there is no information about it, so if it happens we will update the information.
