Steam will support PS5 DualSense and Xbox Series X controllers. The last update of the Steam Client Beta seems to have already added initial support for the new Sony and Microsoft drivers.

On the other hand, the Microsoft drivers present better compatibility with the computers, with complete functionalities that finish solving the small problem of detecting the gamepad in a duplicated way with this beta version.

However, in Dualsense’s case, the driver is compatible but it seems like advanced functions such as haptic vibration, touch trackpad, or gyro motion and tilt recognition are not yet implemented. Also, based on what we saw earlier with the PS4 DualShock 4, it is not known if Steam plans to apply full support.

Unfortunately, these compatibility features are currently limited to the beta versions of the platform, so if we are not part of this program, we will not have access to them at the moment. However, as we have already seen in Steam, it is likely that we will soon see the implementation of these features for all users in a very short period of time, possibly even before the end of the current year.

The DualSense only lists compatibility with the PS5 but you can connect the controller to a Surface Laptop Go with a cable, as well as to a Google Pixel 5 wirelessly with almost full functionality.

On the other hand, while the PS4 Pro is able to recognize the DualSense through both wired and wireless connectivity, unfortunately, it seems that the driver will not really be compatible with its previous generation.

This compatibility is widely surpassed by its main competitor since the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will not only have a small button on its front that will activate an infrared receiver compatible with the old Xbox One remote controllers, but the new controllers of the new consoles will also work normally in the previous generation.

Steam will support PS5 DualSense and Xbox Series X controllers. In addition, like the PS5 controller, these controllers will also feature wired support for all Windows devices, as well as wireless support for smartphones.
