The new smartwatch model includes fall detection, compass and altimeter, water (swimming) resistant case, Family Setup, watch face sharing, sleep tracking and other features that also come with the new Apple Watch Series 6.
The watch uses the S5 processor. Apple claims that it will provide up to two times better performance than the Series 3.
The Watch SE will be Apple’s first affordable Watch model, similar to its mobile phone iPhone SE. Produced to compete with Fitbit and other affordable smartwatch models, the device has a quite similar look to the Series 4. The smartwatch is sold only with Bluetooth and mobile connectivity options.
Apple Watch Series 4 came with 40mm and 42mm screens, while Series 3 managed to keep the 42mm and 38mm screens in the same case size.
The monthly membership service called Fitness Plus was also announced at the event.
Watch SE will run watchOS 7, which Apple introduced at WWDC. Fitness Plus, a new activity app that includes updates, workout tracking and virtual classrooms. Fitness Plus will be free for three months by purchasing an Apple Watch (the price of the service will be $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year after this trial period).

Apple‘s affordable smartwatch model Watch SE will be sold in the US starting at $279 and will be available to order today. The will be availabe for purchase on September 17th.
