year ago, WWDC 2025 introduced the Liquid Glass design language and an ambitious but delayed vision for Apple Intelligence. WWDC 2026 served as Apple’s definitive answer to those initial rollout concerns. Instead of focusing heavily on visual redesigns, the company dedicated its keynote to a completely rebuilt artificial intelligence foundation designed to power Siri, streamline everyday productivity, and integrate system-wide intelligence across every device.
Siri finally gets the ultimate artificial intelligence overhaul
After years of facing heavy criticism regarding its limitations compared to rivals like ChatGPT and Gemini, Siri took center stage with its most ambitious update to date.
The all-new Siri features advanced conversational memory, deeper contextual awareness, and the ability to understand on-screen content to complete complex multi-step tasks. Positioned as the primary interface for Apple Intelligence across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, this highly personalized assistant proves that Apple is finally delivering on the massive promises it made during the early stages of its AI strategy.
System-wide intelligence takes over core applications
Apple’s message was clear throughout the event as artificial intelligence seamlessly expanded into nearly every major application. Safari now boasts AI-assisted tab organization and smarter browsing workflows, while Photos gains powerful machine-learning editing tools.
Calendar, Reminders, and Messages feature highly intelligent proactive recommendations. Additionally, Shortcuts received a massive upgrade, allowing users to effortlessly create complex automations using simple natural language instead of manually building workflows step by step.
Liquid Glass evolves as macOS Golden Gate ends the Intel era
While AI dominated the conversation, software design also received important updates.
The Liquid Glass interface introduced last year returns with highly requested refinements based on user feedback, including a new transparency control that lets users adjust the intensity of the visual effect. On the desktop side, Apple officially unveiled macOS 27 Golden Gate. Packed with a rebuilt natural-language search experience and deep Spotlight AI capabilities, this major update officially marks the end of Intel support, fully completing the Mac’s historic transition to Apple Silicon.
Privacy remains the ultimate weapon in the AI race
As competitors push for increasingly aggressive cloud-based systems, Apple continues to leverage privacy as its strongest differentiator. The company emphasized that Apple Intelligence relies heavily on on-device processing, leaning on its highly secure Private Cloud Compute infrastructure only for demanding tasks without compromising user data. While the event completely skipped new hardware announcements like foldables or new devices, the software focus made one thing very clear. If WWDC 2025 was about building hype and expectations, WWDC 2026 was entirely about executing that vision and delivering real results.
