Valve announced that the Steam Machine and Steam Frame will be released in summer 2026. No pricing details have been disclosed for either product.

The announcement was made in a developer-focused blog post discussing the inclusion of both devices in the Verified program, which began with the Steam Deck. The Verified program informs players about game compatibility with the hardware.

According to Valve, the requirements for the Verified badge for the Steam Machine are nearly identical to those of the Steam Deck. For the Steam Frame, the Verified program emphasizes the user experience in standalone mode, featuring similar criteria to the Steam Deck Verified.

The criteria for both devices include performance metrics related to the default graphics configuration, clarity of text and UI elements, and functionality of the default controller setup. This standardized assessment applies to both VR and non-VR titles.

Speculation surrounding the pricing of Valve’s hardware has been ongoing since the announcement of the Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller in November 2025. The current global memory shortage has caused a significant escalation in the prices of gaming consoles and PCs throughout 2026. Companies like Xbox, Sony, and Valve have raised their existing hardware prices by hundreds of dollars, with Valve increasing the Steam Deck’s price by up to $300.

Nintendo is also expected to raise prices for the upcoming Switch 2. The Steam Controller was launched on May 4, priced at $99, and is characterized as a well-crafted controller featuring touchpads, though it is limited by its RAM capabilities.

In addition, Valve has updated the Steam Store homepage to enhance organization, introducing wider, higher-resolution images and more quick-look details. The refreshed homepage also reinstates the Wishlist and DLC sections and includes a new Personal Calendar for game promotions tailored to user play history. The Discovery Queue can now be accessed in an overlay format, and infinite scroll has been implemented on the homepage.
