Microsoft’s Build 2026 developer conference will commence on June 2 at 12:30 PM ET, featuring a keynote address by CEO Satya Nadella. The event will be accessible via a live YouTube stream and Engadget’s liveblog. Microsoft plans to update its blog throughout the conference with details about the announcements made during Build.
The conference, aimed primarily at developers, is typically considered less dynamic compared to those of competitors like Google and Apple. Nadella’s keynote is expected to address opportunities for developers in the evolving “era of AI.” Microsoft has acknowledged a rising backlash against Windows 11 and is modifying its AI strategy in response, aligning with a more open partnership with OpenAI established in April 2026.
In this new phase, Microsoft has redesigned the enterprise version of its Copilot and removed the AI assistant from certain applications. Although Agentic AI will remain part of Microsoft’s strategy, there may be changes in model usage and feature availability.
There are also speculations about potential new hardware announcements during the conference. NVIDIA is reported to be developing its own Arm chips and may collaborate with Microsoft. Pavan Davuluri, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Windows and Devices, hinted at “something new for developers” during the event. Additionally, both NVIDIA and official Windows social media accounts posted coordinates for Computex, a trade show occurring simultaneously with Build, further indicating potential collaboration.
Microsoft Build 2026 will run from June 2 through June 3. A comprehensive schedule of talks, demos, and labs is available on Microsoft’s website.
