Apple plans significant changes to the Camera app for iOS 27, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The updated app will offer users greater customization, allowing adjustments to the interface and settings rather than adhering to a fixed configuration.

The new Camera app will still feature a familiar Apple interface by default. However, users will have access to a new “Add Widgets” tray for swapping individual settings such as resolution, flash, and live photo options. Advanced features will also be integrated, including controls for depth-of-field, exposure, and Apple’s photo styles.

Currently, users adjust settings via the Camera Control button. The upcoming interface will facilitate touchscreen adjustments, aiming to simplify the user experience. Apple will introduce additional tools, such as grid and level displays for capturing images, and will relocate the control visibility toggle from the top right of the app to the right of the shutter button.

The Camera app will also incorporate AI updates, with a new Siri mode for accessing camera-related features. Users will be able to perform functions like image searching and text translation through this mode. Enhanced photo editing tools will be powered by AI as well.

Significant changes to Siri are also planned. The assistant’s glowing animation will move from the device’s border to the Dynamic Island feature. A new “Search or Ask” interface will replace the current Spotlight Search, allowing for typed requests and presenting results in card format. This will enable direct conversations in a chat interface. Siri will access web results and support voice input. Additionally, past interactions with Siri will be available in a standalone app.

Other minor updates will include a redesigned start page for Safari, an expanded data display in the Weather app, and a simplified Image Playground app. The World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 is scheduled to begin on June 8, 2026, with expectations for further leaks ahead of the event.
