Spotify’s personal DJ feature, powered by OpenAI, is expanding its availability to more territories for Premium subscribers. The rollout includes Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, South Korea, and Switzerland, increasing the total number of markets to over 75, up from 50 countries as of August 2023.
As part of this expansion, Spotify is introducing four additional language options for its DJ feature: French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese, each featuring a distinct voice. This enhancement allows the DJ to engage a wider audience through tailored language support.
The DJ utilizes users’ listening history to generate a playlist that includes recent listens, favorite tracks, and new releases. Subscribers can also request the DJ to create a faux radio station based on specific artists, genres, moods, or activities.
The functionality of the DJ goes beyond playlist creation by integrating generative AI technology that delivers contextual commentary during the listening experience, enhancing user engagement through voice interaction.
