Valve has released CAD files for the shell of its Steam Controller, which is currently out of stock. The design files are available for free download under a Creative Commons license, allowing users to create their own accessories for the controller and its puck.
The released files pertain only to the exterior of the device, meaning that users cannot 3D print the internal components to build a complete controller from scratch. With the Steam Controller sold out and no specified restock date, potential buyers may face a wait.
Valve has not provided a release window for the Steam Machine and Steam Frame VR headset. However, the Steam Controller has been regarded as a good option for players if they are able to find one in stock.
