Microsoft is redesigning its Teams online meeting software to enhance user experience and reduce accidental interruptions. The update will relocate the “raise hand” button from the main toolbar and allow users to personalize the controls displayed.

The redesign, expected to roll out in June 2023, aims to group the Raise Hand feature under the Reactions button. This change seeks to minimize mis-clicks that disrupt meetings and distinguish hand-raising from emoji reactions.

New toolbar customizations will enable users to pin, unpin, and reorder actions. Additionally, the “Leave” button will be distinctly separated on the right side of the toolbar to help users avoid inadvertently closing calls.

Microsoft stated, “The redesign is designed to be faster and easier to use,” while noting that it “may feel different at first.” The company has not released images of the updated interface.
