Lenovo will re-enter the gaming phone market with the return of the Legion Y70 series after a four-year hiatus. The company is teasing a reveal for the gaming-centric phone in May 2023.

The announcement signals Lenovo’s renewed commitment to gaming devices at a time when competitor ASUS is stepping back from the segment. The previous Legion phone was launched in 2022, marking a substantial gap in Lenovo’s offerings in this competitive market.

In a post shared on Weibo, Lenovo discussed the forthcoming generation of the Legion Y70, highlighting the emergence of AI gaming. The post emphasized the readiness of the “entire Lenovo Legion ecosystem,” underscoring the company’s strategic direction in gaming technology.

A commenter inquired if the new phone would feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Lenovo did not confirm the specific processor but stated that the device “will certainly live up to your expectations.” A high-performance processor like this would position Lenovo to compete effectively against gaming phones such as the RedMagic 11 Pro and ROG Phone 9.

Details regarding the next-generation Legion Y70 remain sparse. However, Lenovo’s statement indicates that additional information will be available soon, with the phrase “See you in May” hinting at an imminent launch.
