More LG OLED TV users report power cycling issues triggered by bright flashes on screen across various models, including the LG G5, C1, and others. A Reddit user, identified as u/RandomGamer414, detailed the problem experienced with their LG G5 in the r/LGOLED subreddit, stating that the device turns off during moments of bright flashing, particularly in the game Cronos: The New Dawn.
Other users have noted similar problems while playing games like Halo 4, Rocket League, The Division 2, and Borderlands 3, as well as during streaming on Netflix and Hulu. These reports indicate that the issue is not isolated to a single model or time frame, as affected devices include the LG C9, released in 2019, and newer models like the LG CX and LG B4.
Despite these reports, many LG OLED users claim they have not encountered any power cycling issues. Testing by TechRadar, which regularly evaluates the G5, C5, and B5 models, has not revealed any significant problems during their assessments.
The cause of the power cycling remains unclear, with speculation about a potential power unit failure or a panel defect. Some users suggest possible solutions such as changing to a different HDMI cable or lowering the TV’s brightness to mitigate the flashing issue. No definitive fix has been established so far.
