Spotify now allows users to disable all video features within the app, introducing separate toggles for Canvas, music videos, and other video content.

The new video settings enable users to control which video features are active in their application. The Canvas toggle for videos on the Now Playing screen remains, while new options allow users to manage music videos and “all other videos,” which encompass video podcasts, artist clips, and vertically scrolling videos. Settings can be adjusted under Settings > Content and display, with preferences applying universally across all platforms.

Family account managers are also able to toggle video settings for all members of their plan. This move follows Spotify’s trend of increasingly integrating video into its platform over recent years, with Canvas video loops introduced in 2018 and video podcasts added in 2020 amidst a rise in popularity.

Music videos were integrated in 2024, although they only became available in the U.S. late last year. Additionally, artist clips—30-second vertical videos created for promotional messages—also form part of the platform’s rich multimedia offering.

Spotify claims that over 70 percent of its users believe more video content would enhance their experience. However, the company acknowledges that some users prefer a gaming music app without extensive video features.
