Google announced a new feature allowing U.S. users to change their Gmail address without losing access to their data.

This change allows users to update their account email without starting over, preserving existing emails and data. Users can find the feature in their Google Account settings under Personal info > Email > Google Account email.

A button labeled “Change Google Account email” will initiate the username change process. Users can change their username only once every 12 months and cannot delete their new email address during that time.

Old emails will be maintained, and the previous email address will serve as an alternate login option. Users can access Google services with both their old and new addresses.

The feature is currently rolling out in select Hindi-speaking territories, as reported by 9to5Google. The rollout is gradual, so access may not be immediate for all users.

Google confirmed that users will see the option on its support page as the feature becomes widely available.
