A permanent “Minecraft World” theme park will open in Greater London in 2027.
The park will be a new section within Chessington World of Adventures and represents a direct expansion of the best-selling video game franchise into physical entertainment.
Minecraft World will feature a roller coaster, interactive adventures, and “epic block-built playscapes.” The attraction aims to provide an “immersive, authentic and welcoming” experience, according to Torfi Frans Ólafsson, the game franchise’s creative director.
The project is a collaboration between Mojang Studios, the game’s developer, and Merlin Entertainments, the world’s second-largest theme park operator.
Separately, a “Minecraft Experience: Moonlight Trail” pop-up event is scheduled to open in May in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This hour-long outdoor nighttime adventure will allow visitors to engage in activities such as crafting gear, mining, and battling mobs.
In-game updates for Minecraft were also announced. “Tiny Takeover,” set for release on March 24, will introduce a “cuter” visual design for baby mobs and a golden dandelion item that can make baby mobs permanently young.
Later in the year, the “Chaos Cubed” update will add a sulfur cube with variable physical properties based on absorbed materials, Mojang stated.
Mojang also confirmed “Minecraft Dungeons II,” a sequel to the 2020 spinoff game. Wishlisting for the game will become available on March 21.
