Adobe announced the beta release of its AI assistant for Photoshop on the web and in mobile applications on Tuesday. The assistant allows users to remove objects, change colors, and adjust lighting using natural language prompts. The company also introduced an AI markup feature in public beta, enabling users to draw markers for the AI to transform objects.
The rollout expands Adobe’s AI capabilities beyond the Photoshop desktop environment. The assistant can execute commands such as adding soft glow, cropping images, and enhancing shadows. Paid Photoshop users receive unlimited AI generations through April 9, while free users receive 20 generations.
Adobe is simultaneously adding new tools to its Firefly media-creation application. Firefly is gaining Generative Fill for replacing or adding objects, along with generative remove, generative expand, and generative upscale features. The update also includes a one-click tool to remove backgrounds from images.
The company stated in February that it allows unlimited generations for Firefly subscribers to encourage usage. Adobe has added more than 25 third-party models to its platform, including Google’s Nano Banana 2, OpenAI’s Image Generation, Runway’s Gen-4.5, and Black Forest Labs’ Flux.2 Pro.
Adobe first announced the AI assistant for Photoshop during its MAX event in October.
