WhatsApp announced on Wednesday that it is rolling out new features for group chats, including member tags, text stickers, and event reminders.
Member tags allow users to assign a custom name that provides context about their identity or role in the group. Examples include “Anna’s Dad” in one group and “Goalkeeper” in another.
Text stickers enable users to turn any word into a sticker by typing it into Sticker Search. Newly created text stickers can be added directly to a user’s sticker packs without sending them in a chat.
Event reminders permit users to set custom notifications for invitees when creating and sending an event within a group chat.
These additions build on WhatsApp’s enhancements to group chats, which include sharing files up to 2 GB, sending HD media, screen sharing, voice chats, and more.
