Electronic Arts has launched Battlefield: RedSec, a new free-to-play battle royale mode set in the Battlefield 6 universe. Available starting today, October 28, the standalone game aims to compete directly with Call of Duty: Warzone.
As confirmed following numerous leaks, Battlefield: RedSec is now available for download across various platforms. The game went live at 11 AM ET today. Crucially, RedSec is entirely free and does not require ownership of the main Battlefield 6 game, opening it up to a broad audience. Battlefield 6 itself launched on October 10 and achieved significant early success, selling 7 million copies in its first three days.
While EA has provided limited gameplay specifics, RedSec is expected to follow the established battle royale formula where numerous players fight on a large map until only one squad or player remains. A brief teaser suggested the possibility of choosing between four distinct soldier classes, though details on class abilities or loadout systems have not been confirmed.
Battlefield 6 Season 1 also launches today
The release of RedSec coincides precisely with the launch of Season 1 for the main Battlefield 6 game. This first major content update brings a significant amount of new content for Battlefield 6 owners, including:
- New maps
- Additional game modes
- New vehicles
- New weapons and attachments
- New cosmetic items
