Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2. This version will include all game updates released to date, with the exception of the Claws of Awaji expansion. The expansion is scheduled to be added to the Switch 2 version of the game in 2026.
The Switch 2 release will support cross-progression through Ubisoft Connect, allowing players to transfer their game progress to the new console. It will also introduce a feature unique to the platform: touchscreen interactions for menus such as the world map, store, and hideout.
This announcement was part of Ubisoft’s fall roadmap for the game. The roadmap begins on October 28 with Title Update 10, which will overhaul the parkour system. This update adds an Advanced Parkour option and reintroduces the directional catch ledge mechanic. A new Animus-themed activity called Corrupted Castles will also be included.
On November 25, Ubisoft will release a third story drop and a new collaboration quest titled “A Puzzlement.” According to developers, the quest’s tone is sillier than the main game and “much more akin to something like AC Odyssey.” In this quest, the character Naoe will gain a version of Yasuke’s war kick ability, while Yasuke will learn how to perform a sneak-stun on enemies. The roadmap concludes with the Switch 2 launch on December 2.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows originally debuted on March 20, 2025, for PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game’s Claws of Awaji expansion, which was released in September, added over 10 hours of content. This included a new region, story elements, bosses, enemy factions, weapons, abilities, and gear. Ubisoft also recently released Star Wars Outlaws on the Switch 2, which has been reported to perform well on the hardware.
