Huawei has scheduled a special launch event for its HarmonyOS 6.0 operating system on October 22. The company confirmed the date and time, 14:30, through a new video teaser released on the social media platform Weibo. The teaser highlighted several upgrades coming with the new version of the OS.
According to the announcement, HarmonyOS 6.0 will feature an enhanced user interface and functions that are easier to use. The company stated the update will continue to focus on being safer, smarter, and smoother. In its official post, Huawei said: “At 14:30 on October 22, Huawei HarmonyOS Operating System 6 is specially released, which is better-looking, easier to use, smarter, safer, and smoother. #HarmonyOS6#, Stay tuned!”
Hua Gang, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business, commented on the announcement, mentioning that HarmonyOS 6 will “open a new experience with full evolution.”
While Huawei did not specify the exact nature of the “special launch event,” it may signal the beginning of the public beta for the new OS. This possibility is based on the company’s past actions. Last year, Huawei launched the HarmonyOS 5.0 public beta on October 8, coinciding with the Nova 13 series launch event. The upcoming event could follow a similar strategy by opening testing to a wider user base.
HarmonyOS 6.0 was first announced at the HDC 2025 conference, at which time the company also opened a developer preview. The software is currently in a closed beta phase available for a selection of flagship phones and tablets.
Separately, Huawei recently launched a developer version of HarmonyOS 6.0 for PCs, which includes new features and optimizations for those devices. The company has also opened a HarmonyOS 6.0 Developer Beta Program for select Huawei PC models.
