Threads has announced several updates aimed at improving the multi-part post experience. Recent changes include an increased character limit of 10,000 characters and the addition of a text attachment feature. The company stated its goal is “making it easier to thread on Threads.”
A key update involves a new label system to indicate a post’s position within a thread. For example, a post might display “1/4” to signify it’s the first of four posts. This feature is designed to help users easily follow a series of connected posts, especially useful for live event coverage, live show commentary, or multi-part stories.
Threads is also modifying how threads are displayed on user profiles. Users will now see the first and second posts of a thread, followed by an indicator of the number of additional posts in that thread. When a user clicks on a thread, all responses from the original poster will be shown in one place, simplifying conversation tracking.
Threads outlined the process for creating multi-part threads: “To share a multi-part thread, start by writing your first post in the composer. Then, tap “Add to thread” to keep building. Repeat as many times as you need to tell your story in a series of connected posts.”
