Telegram users can now trade TON within the platform
It is stated that only TON coin can be traded within Telegram but users are also able to buy Bitcoin, using the integrated “@wallet” bot.
The aim is to make sending Toncoin “feel like sending a text message,” the TON Foundation, the steward of the cryptocurrency project, said Thursday. The bot has been used by 800,000 Telegram accounts already, it said.
“We anticipate that this functionality will extend into the consumer to business payments so that people can easily acquire goods and services by sending toncoin via bots in the Telegram app,” the TON Foundation said.
Yes Telegram users can now Trade TON within the app but it is not the only platform to offer crypto-related features. Twitter has also integrated bitcoin payments via the Lightning Network for its Tips feature, which is enabled through third-party payment providers like Jack Mallers’ Strike app.
In August 2020, following a lawsuit from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Telegram TON crypto project was discontinued. Pavel Durov was the one to announce the news at that time:
“Today is a sad day for us here at Telegram. We are announcing the discontinuation of our blockchain project.”
The TON foundation recently closed a $1 billion fundraising effort.
Following the news TON experienced an uptrend. At the time of writing TON is valued at $2,2256, according to TradingView.
