Steam Best of 2021: Top sellers, best new releases, most-played games

Valve announced its 2021 best of lists including top sellers, best new releases, most-played games, and more. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Grand Theft Auto 5 continue to be dominant on Steam and outsell other titles, according to the data shared by Valve.

It’s hard to say exactly which game was the best-selling or most-played because Valve doesn’t reveal that information, instead, games are ranked by tier:

Top 12 games are called Platinum Tier
Top 13-24 games are called Gold Tier
Top 25-40 games are called Silver Tier
Top 41-100 games are called Bronze Tier

These lists are based on data from internal Valve records between January 1, 2021 and ending December 15, 2021.
