TikTok just knocked Google out of the number one spot and become the most popular website in the world, according to Cloudflare’s Year in Review 2021 report.

TikTok was the seventh most popular website last year according to Cloudflare’s list behind Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Netflix and Amazon. But this year it managed to climb up top. Besides that, the order has not changed too much. Amazon switched places with Netflix and became the number 6. The complete list looks like this:

But according to Cloudflare, these results might be misleading, because when creating the 2020 list the platform used data from September to December instead of including all 12 months. TikTok first started to get a lot of attention on Feb. 17, 2021, but it was followed by a few more days of success in March and June, then it experienced a longer stay at the top from late August onward.
It has seen explosive growth among young users, attracting a wide variety of users, from teens to adults and everywhere in between and TikTok’s popularity has spiked during the pandemic.
TikTok is a China-based application owned by ByteDance, and it is the only non-American website that is able to be in the top 10 list.
