Today Amazon presented a household robot powered by Alexa called Astro, the company has been working on this project for years and now it finally becomes a reality. It will be on shelves by the end of the year with a $ 1,000 price tag.

Amazon has published its new product on its official news Twitter page. The interesting thing about this little robot is its ability to move around the house without bumping into any element including pets. You can also set it up in your home to connect with Amazon’s popular personal security system, Ring, this allows the robot to go around on its own and investigate odd occurrences while you’re away.

In this regard, Astro will be able to walk around the house and it will warn the user in case of finding anomalous situations such as broken glass, strange movements, activation of smoke alarms, etc. This makes the robot an ideal watchman. Surely, in case of an emergency notifications will be sent to the user through the mobile application.

The new Alexa Together feature will also allow family members to contact Astro owners in case of emergency, making it also an ideal companion in case outside help is needed.

Users who purchase this device will be able to disable the robot at a given time by activating the Do Not Disturb mode. This mode will limit the capabilities of Astro you can even set specific private areas for Astro to not enter.

According to Amazon, this device is not just an Alexa on wheels. They point out to robot’s contribution to security measures.
