There are three options that will appear in the settings, automatic (WhatsApp will choose the quality if you choose that one), best quality (photos will be sent with maximum quality), and data saving (the quality will be worse to save data).
Currently, the last option does not make much sense, as there are data plans at really competitive prices. Data saving mode is almost unnecessary.
The interesting thing about this that now users will not have to send photos as files to maintain maximum quality. But it is quite annoying to have to choose the files that way, as the menu is not as well developed as the gallery from which the images are sent.
These features are now available in the latest beta versions. But we don’t know when they will reach the stable version.
