Spotify has been in the process of improvements for a few months now, trying to make it easier for users to discover and play their favorite music tracks and podcasts.
Following this trend, Spotify now wants to make it easier for users to share their favorite content with their contacts through social networks, coming with a series of new features that everyone can enjoy, globally, both on Android and iOS.
First of all, Spotify now makes it possible for users to share their favorite podcasts from specific time points. Until now, the only way for users to share podcasts on their social networks was to share full episodes.
With the new feature now introduced, contacts will only have to click on the shared link to go to the specific shared part of the podcast, similar to what SoundCloud has been allowing for years with uploaded audio tracks.
The process for sharing specific time points of podcasts is as follows: users will have to press the “share” button while listening to their favorite podcast episode. Afterward, they will have to use the “change to share” function at the current playback point and select the social network where they want to share.
For now, this new feature will only apply to podcasts and not to music tracks, we do not know if in the future they will offer this possibility.
Secondly, we have Canvas, the Spotify feature that, in the manner of a modern cover in the streaming era, generates a preview in the form of a short video (basically it is an excerpt of a music video) when sharing the corresponding music track in an Instagram Story. Now it will also be compatible with Snapchat Stories (it seems that Snapchat is once again gaining relevance in the social network segment).
And finally, the interface of the selection sheet of the share menu is simplified, having now the options organized in the form of a dynamic grid, which will offer the options depending on the applications you have installed.
In addition, if you choose to share music tracks in the form of Stories for Instagram or Snapchat, users will also have a preview of the Canvas. It is now a matter of users updating the application to the latest version of the Spotify app to be able to enjoy all these new features.
