In a few weeks The Elder Scrolls Online will take players to remote and dangerous places with the new Blackwood chapter. If you are getting ready to play this new adventure, but you wanted to do it taking advantage of the benefits of the most powerful consoles, we have good news for you, since it was announced that an improved version is on its way.

Although it is possible to play The Elder Scrolls Online on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S thanks to backward compatibility, the experience is practically the same as on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Bethesda and ZeniMax Online Studios announced today that they are preparing a dedicated version that will take full advantage of the power of next-gen consoles and will be reflected in both performance and visual effects.

Play The Elder Scrolls Online in HD or with improved performance

Among the new features that this new improved version will bring is the possibility of playing The Elder Scrolls Online with greater visual fidelity. Thanks to the power of these consoles, you will be able to see twice as far on the horizon and the high-definition textures will look better on large screens and will have Antialiasing, which will make the game elements look better when viewed up close.

This edition will also improve reflections, occlusion, lighting, depth of field, loading times, and shadows (the latter equivalent to Ultra on PC). In case you prefer the game to run better rather than visual fidelity, you will be able to choose Performance Mode, which will allow you to play at 60 fps.

Bethesda is expected to share more details about this new version of the game before its release, scheduled for June 8.

As you can see, the new enhanced version of The Elder Scrolls: Online will be available a few days after the new Blackwood expansion debuts on PC on June 1 and on the same day it arrives on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on consoles on June 8.

Bethesda took the opportunity to share more details about Blackwood, which will be an adventure that can be enjoyed independently but will expand the events of Gates of Oblivion throughout 2021.

In Blackwood, thanks to the Companion System, players will be able to choose between 2 new companions to start their journey, whose playstyle can be modified through their equipment and abilities. Interestingly, these characters will have their tastes and personalities and the player’s actions will impact them.

Inspired by The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Blackwood will make you explore familiar lands with 3 different biomes in which there will be dangerous enemies, challenges, bosses, dungeons, events, and, of course, rewards.

We leave you with the new trailer of The Elder Scrolls: Online.
