Gone are the days when Atari was popular for its video games and consoles. Instead, today’s Atari lives more by licensing its brand. Hence, last year they announced a total of eight Atari-themed hotels. Now, their latest collaboration with Decentral Games brings the brand’s theme to casinos and gambling.

As announced by Decentral Games an official release, they have partnered with Atari to create the ‘Atari Casino’. It is not going to be a real building as it happens with hotels, but it will be an online casino within the virtual Decentraland universe. Within the game, the user will be able to interact with his avatar with other users and play different games and betting machines.

In addition to the classic casino games, they say there will be a “special Atari” game in which players can win according to their skill. Likewise, players will be able to win and operate with the Decentral Games token (DG) but also a special Atari token (ATRI).

The “crypto casino”

A virtual casino that operates with cryptocurrencies has an operation that in practice is identical to that of a regular casino. The difference, of course, is in the currency used by the players. By using cryptocurrencies in principle there is a certain degree of privacy and it is guaranteed that the game is not manipulated. But just as there are advantages to cryptocurrencies, there are also disadvantages. There is much greater volatility and regulations by the authorities are somewhat diffuse.

Atari’s fixation on cryptocurrencies and blockchain is nothing new. In their plan to revive themselves as a relevant company in the world of technology and video games, they previously tried to launch their cryptocurrency. The Atari token we previously discussed comes under the name ATRI. Based on the Ethereum platform, it seeks to become the universal token for interactive entertainment.

On the other hand, it’s been two years since Atari’s new console was announced and it still hasn’t arrived. The Atari VCS was promising in terms of features, although it has already had a series of delays and it is not clear when it will be available to the general public.
