Microsoft Office follows in the footsteps of Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides and will soon activate the dark theme in its popular Office suite. A leak of Office for Android discovers that the company is already implementing this much-demanded mode.
This would not be the first Microsoft application to support the Android dark theme. Already more than a year ago the dark mode also came to Outlook and OneDrive. Now it will also come to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
This is the dark theme of Microsoft Office for Android
Already more than a month ago, the Italian developer and leaker Alessandro Paluzzi advanced in a tweet that Microsoft was working on something important for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for Android, but it was not until today that he announced what it was about, also showing the first screenshots of the dark theme of Microsoft Office for Android.
It seems that the Italian developer has had access to a beta version of some of Microsoft’s office applications. In the screenshots, we can see what the dark theme of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Word looks like. Alessandro Paluzzi confirms that all Microsoft office applications will have a dark theme.

The dark theme of Microsoft Office has no mystery. The interface is tinged with black and gray tones to make it more friendly to the eye when using the mobile or tablet in low light. Of course, in the leaked version the document view still shows a white background but that could change in the final version.
A few weeks ago it was announced that Microsoft is going to bring the real dark theme to Office, dyeing in black also the pages of the documents in Windows and macOS, so we hope that this dark theme will also arrive in Android and that it will not take long to do so.
