Huawei Mate 20 receives the final version of EMUI 11.
Five months have passed since Huawei officially presented EMUI 11 in September last year. Since then, the company has successfully arrived with the update on many of its flagship phones including the P40, P30, or Mate 30. But we were yet to see the final version for the Mate 20, Huawei’s most powerful phones of 2018. Far from being left out, the Mate 20 family with the Mate 20 Pro at the head, are starting to receive the expected update.
As usual, it has been in China where the first EMUI 11 tests were carried out for Mate 20. Subsequently, the beta phases were extended to Europe and the Middle East. Now and as reported by Huawei Central, Huawei is starting to receive the stable and final version of EMUI 11, thus fulfilling the company’s promise to implement this new version during the first quarter of 2021.
EMUI 11 for all Huawei Mate 20 series
The EMUI 11 update includes the Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, and Mate 20 X, however, the Mate 20 X 5G variant, which is the only 5G device in the entire series does not fall under this batch, although it is expected to be updated soon as well. As is usually the norm when switching EMUI versions, the update weighs in at almost 2GB and arrives with version number 11.0.0.138.
It should be noted that the update is being released in batches, so it will not reach all markets and models at the same time. However, you should be able to receive the update on your Mate 20 in the next few days. In the meantime, you can perform a periodic check by forcing the update manually from Settings/System/System Updates. You can also check from the pre-installed support app by going to the “Service” tab at the top and tapping on “Check for updates”.
Loaded with new features
There are many important changes in this new version, and the changelog is very extensive for Mate 20. Among the main new features, there is a renewed interface, and improvements in the Always-on Display function, being more customizable than ever.
Also added is the multi-window function to open applications in floating advantages and reorganize them in a simple way or a more fluid animation in all system menus. Of course, privacy has an important section in these improvements, with the blocking of personal notes or the possibility of eliminating the trace of the location before sharing a photo.
