If we talk about Huawei, the first thing that comes to mind is the important role that the company has played in the smartphone sector, in addition to that the company might be working on a gaming console and a gaming laptop.
The Chinese company is more than just a giant in the mobile phones sector and has interests in other markets that could be expanded in the short term.
Huawei gaming laptop might be a reality soon
This alleged expansion would be carried out through two major developments: a gaming laptop, which was initially going to be marketed under the Honor brand, and a video game console, which would have a similar approach to the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Even though the information we have is still not confirmed.
In the image below you can see all the information about Honor’s first gaming laptop (Honor was the subbrand of Huawei before it was sold to be able to enter the U.S market again). Most likely, all features and components of this model will be transferred with minimal changes to the new Huawei gaming laptop.
In terms of hardware, we do not see anything particularly striking, as this equipment would have a 10th Core i5 processor and a 6GB GTX 1660 Ti. The price could be the biggest attraction of this equipment, as it is said that it will be an economical model. As we said earlier, this may not be the final configuration, so some changes may occur.
Can Huawei compete with PS5 or Xbox with a new gaming console?
First of all, remember that Huawei already tried to enter this sector with the Huawei Tron console, a system based on Android 4.2 and equipped with an NVIDIA Tegra 4 SoC that hit the market in 2014, and that was not as successful as expected.
This new attempt by Huawei to enter the game console market could start from two different strategies. The first would be to create a system “similar” to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
But the similarities between these platforms could end up being very small, and the second strategy would involve recovering the concept of the Huawei Tron, which would lead us to think of a console with an ARM CPU and a Linux-based operating system.
