Specs and some details of the latest Sony Xperia Compact phone are leaked. Last seen in 2017, Sony’s promise to bring a new Xperia Compact soon fell into oblivion after the growing trend towards ever-larger smartphones. Although this did not detract from the fact that rumors of this phone were kept alive, with statements from Sony itself discreetly claiming not to abandon this line.
Sony Xperia Compact leaked specs and details
Thus, the latest news came to us just two months ago, when it was reported that the Japanese manufacturer could finally be planning the arrival of an Xperia Compact for 2021. And is that although the vast majority of manufacturers are still betting on sizes above 6.5 inches, however, we have also seen a small setback against this trend, with the launch of smaller phones like the iPhone SE and iPhone 12 mini, with a great reception by users.
Although as Steve Hemmerstoffer (better known by his online name @OnLeaks) has now shared, it seems that the Xperia Compact would not be so compact, since despite maintaining a panel of only 5.5-inches, this phone would remain above the size of the iPhone 12 mini, reaching proportions of 140 x 68.9 x 8.9 millimeters.
Part of the reason for its size stems from the presence of noticeably thick bezels around the screen, as well as the water speck-shaped notch that will house its 8MP front sensor. And that’s because the Xperia Compact seems to once again borrow many of the design details from older Sony phones, just like the recently previewed Xperia 10 III, with a vertical main camera arrangement.
Though fortunately this also means we’ll be getting some still useful elements like a 3.5mm headphone jack while keeping other advancements like the USB-C connector.
At the moment no details have been released about the possible date of presentation of these phones, although given the estimated proximity of the presentation of the new Xperia 10, it would not be surprising if we see a large event by Sony.
