Starting with the design, we find an ultra-thin bezel panel and a relatively small diagonal of only 24-inches that will only offer us Full HD resolution up to 1920 x 1080 pixels. It also highlights the fact that the MSI Optix G242 has opted for a more sober aesthetic and lines, with a few angular lines in the back, completely eliminating the additions of RGB lighting.
However, we will have some higher-level features such as its 144Hz refresh rate and its low response time, just 1 ms, adding the support for FreeSync image synchronization technologies from AMD and G-Sync from NVIDIA, which will help avoid the annoying problems of “tearing” and “stuttering” by facilitating the synchronization between the monitor and our GPU, in addition to the “Anti-Flickr” technologies from MSI and a filtering mode “Blue Light Reduction” already incorporated.
Regarding color representation, the monitor shows a quite remarkable response, reaching 94.6% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum and 127.7% of the SRGB, although again forced by the output of its premium orientation, we will notice the absence of other image enhancement technologies such as HDR.
Finally, MSI Optix G242 will have just the right ports, two HDMI 1.4 outputs plus a DisplayPort 1.2 port, and an additional 3.5 mm jack input for audio.
