Twitter is taking action against hate crimes

Twitter is taking action against hate crimes. Twitter is a very interesting place to follow the agenda and interact with certain people. But it is getting increasingly difficult to avoid thousands of hate messages that are published every day. Far from contributing something, all some people do is polarize the conversation, this is something that attracts extremes and excludes moderate positions.

Those responsible for Twitter are very aware of this problem and have been working for years to find a solution that is mainly based on the prohibition of certain types of content. These policies were initiated two years ago, and in several updates, new types of content prohibited on social media. This ban will be even more extended now because Twitter is taking action against hate crimes.

Twitter explains this situation: “Our primary focus is on addressing the risks of offline harm, and research* shows that dehumanizing language increases that risk.” This way, the social network expands its rules in order to block accounts and delete tweets that offend certain individuals.

Twitter and Facebook, mainly, do not take action with full force against hate crimes. This inaction has been causing pressure on Twitter managers from shareholders for years. There have been boycotts against Facebook too.

This is, without a doubt, a very controversial issue, but it is now clear that Twitter is taking action against hate crimes.
