Amazon just announced that they will invest $2.8B in a new data center, it will be their second data center in India. Amazon selected Telangana as their center, where they want to establish a new AWS (Amazon Web Services) Cloud region in the country. This investment will enable Amazon to launch an AWS Cloud region in the city of Hyderabad by mid-2022.

This new AWS Asia Pacific region will increase services to developers, start-ups and businesses, as well as government, educational and non-profit organizations, as they will be able to run their applications and serve end-users from data centers located in India. The President of TRS announced the new data center of Amazon with a tweet.

Amazon already leads the cloud market in India today, where enterprises are increasingly adopting cloud computing to reduce costs, increase agility and enable rapid innovation to meet the needs of billions of customers in India and abroad. We all know Amazon can design the infrastructure for even greater fault tolerance, resilience and availability in all geographic locations with their new investment in the data center project.
So far, the company has invested more than $6.5 billion in its operations in India, the second-largest Internet market in the world.
Amazon will invest $2.8B in a new data center. Amazon, Google and Microsoft are the three pillars of cloud services in India and the world. While Microsoft signed a long-term agreement with telecom giant Jio Platforms, Amazon formed a strategic alliance with Airtel, one of India’s largest telecom operators. Microsoft now has three data center regions in India, while Google has two.
