Cyberpunk 2077 will use AI to synchronize lips in 10 different languages
The detail was revealed by the technical director of characters, Mateusz Popławski, in a presentation that stated that this lip-sync would far exceed the quality of what was seen in ‘The Witcher 3’, the studio’s previous game. And this time they will be able to do it in ten languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Mandarin and Japanese.
Cyberpunk 2077 will use AI support to synchronize lips in 10 different languages. For all this complicated process CD Project counted on the study of Jali Research. They are the developers of the technology of facial animation and lip synchronization. This will allow the game to carry out the achievement, full of nuances and details. For example, the expressiveness in the characters was achieved through tags that sent instructions to the animations about the emotions the character was experiencing, and this way the character will be acting accordingly.
Cyberpunk 2077 will use AI to synchronize lips in 10 different languages. And the AI analysis of the audio lines played by actors also helps to add nuances to the lip animations, since it interprets by the tone, volume and expressiveness of the voice what the character’s feelings are. And not only the lips: the technology generates procedural movements of eyes, eyebrows and neck to show a whole display of animations that will give greater realism to the characters of the game.
