Unfortunately for many users, sometimes the signal from the WiFi router does not reach the whole house, so you have to find the best place to install the device.

There can be many obstacles that prevent the router signal, from thick walls, to the kitchen, bathroom, mirrors, the neighbor’s signal. Sometimes diagnosing why the WiFi signal is insufficient might be difficult, but the most recommended solutions is to install the router in the best place in the house.

How to best place the WiFi router?

The place where the router is installed has a vital importance even if the house where you live is not too big, so we are going to give you a series of basic tips.

The first and most obvious is in the installation of the router as close as possible to the place where you will usually connect, but not only that: it is also good that it is in an open space, not inside a closet or boxed in a corner between thick walls. Distance is essential, especially if the signal is arriving inefficiently.

Ideally, there should be a direct view from the router to the computer or the usual work or leisure space, thick walls or floors prevent the WiFi signal from reaching the equipment as well.

Installing the router high up also helps to reduce signal loss. Fixing it on the wall or putting it on the highest shelf can serve to better distribute the WiFi signal that loses height as it moves away from the device.

Avoiding the kitchen being in the way is usually good advice. This cabin, with everything it usually includes, is a signal eater. Microwaves, metal appliances, electronics, tiles. The signal can be altered and hampered by a fair number of obstacles.

The mirrors also weaken the signal. Like elements such as fish tanks, if you have your equipment behind one, you will most likely receive less Wi-Fi than normal.

What other electronic equipments are involved? Televisions, alarms, any product with radio signal. You should avoid any equipment that receives or transmits data takes its toll with the signal. We also recommend that you unplug your TV when you are not using it if it is a smart TV.

As you can see, all these tips are easy to follow and will surely help you to improve your WiFi, never forget that the place where it is installed can be capital to distribute the signal.
