Whether you want to delete a YouTube playlist you created or remove one you saved from someone else, this guide covers how to do it on mobile devices like iPhone, iPad, or Android, as well as on your computer. You can easily get rid of public or private playlists to keep your library organized.

Before you start: Ensure you are logged into your YouTube account on the app or website, as you’ll need access to your playlists.
Warning: Deleting a playlist is permanent and cannot be undone, so double-check before confirming the action to avoid losing access to your saved videos.

How to delete YouTube playlists on mobile or desktop

Follow these step-by-step methods to remove playlists from your YouTube library, depending on your device.

Method 1: Using mobile

  • Open the YouTube app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
  • If you aren’t logged in, sign in to your YouTube account now.
  • Tap your profile picture in the bottom-right corner.
  • Tap the playlist you want to delete under the Playlists section, or tap View all to browse.
  • Tap the ellipsis (⋮) in the top-right corner of the playlist view.
  • If the playlist isn’t yours, tap the bookmark icon beneath the title instead; it will unfilled, and you’ll see Removed at the bottom.
  • Tap Delete playlist.
  • Tap Delete to confirm; the playlist will be removed from your library.

Method 2: Using desktop

  • Go to YouTube in your web browser and log in if needed.
  • Click Playlists in the left sidebar; if it’s not visible, click the three-line menu icon to expand it.
  • Click View full playlist under the thumbnail of the playlist you want to delete.
  • Click the ellipsis (⋮) underneath the playlist title.
  • If the playlist isn’t yours, click the bookmark icon underneath the title instead; it will unfilled, and you’ll see Removed from library on screen.
  • Click Delete playlist next to the trash-can icon; the playlist will be deleted immediately.
Pro tip: Before deleting, consider saving individual videos from the playlist to Your videos section by tapping the Save button on each one to avoid losing favorites.

Keeping your YouTube library clean by deleting unwanted playlists helps you stay organized and focused on content that truly interests you. Over time, saved playlists can clutter your account, making it harder to find recommendations or revisit favorites quickly. By regularly removing them, you improve the overall user experience on both mobile and desktop.

This practice also enhances privacy, as public playlists might reveal your viewing habits to others. Ultimately, a streamlined library encourages better content discovery and saves storage space on your devices. Take a moment after deletion to review other sections like history for further optimization.
