Samsung has launched the Perplexity TV App, an AI-powered application for its smart televisions. The app integrates generative AI directly into the company’s connected screens to provide an interactive user interface. The Perplexity TV App is currently available on 2025 Samsung TV models. A rollout for 2023 and 2024 models is planned for later this year through an operating system update.

The application functions as an “answer engine,” designed to collect real-time responses from credible sources to deliver accurate and visually supplemented answers. It also provides users with follow-up suggestions to facilitate deeper exploration of topics. The app is an extension of Samsung’s Vision AI Companion platform, which was first shown at IFA 2025. This integration allows users to ask complex questions and receive immediate answers and recommendations directly on their television screens.

Users can access the Perplexity TV App through the Apps tab on their TV or via the Vision AI Companion’s dedicated AI button. The system supports voice commands for interaction, along with options for text input using an on-screen or a connected USB keyboard. As part of the launch, users can claim a complimentary 12-month Perplexity Pro subscription by scanning a QR code presented within the application.

Dan Glassman, Senior Director & Head of New Business Development for Samsung Electronics, commented on the release. “The first-of-its-kind Perplexity AI-powered app… broadens our Vision AI Platform offering for a more unique and personalized user experience,” Glassman stated. He added, “Samsung continually brings innovative and first-to-market experiences to our device owners, and this partnership with Perplexity is the latest that will deliver cutting-edge AI technology, redefining how Samsung owners interact with their TVs.”

Ryan Foutty, VP of Business at Perplexity, also provided a statement on the partnership. “Curiosity can strike at any time. Perplexity’s mission is to serve the world’s curiosity by bridging the gap between traditional search and innovative AI-driven interfaces,” Foutty said. He also noted the company’s excitement about bringing Perplexity’s functionality to Samsung’s televisions, referencing Samsung’s position as a leading global television brand.
