Nvidia has invested over $900 million in cash and stock to hire Enfabrica CEO Rochan Sankar and key staff from the AI hardware startup, while licensing its technology. The deal, finalized last week, integrates Sankar into Nvidia’s team.

Founded in 2019, Enfabrica specializes in technology that interconnects large numbers of GPUs for advanced AI systems. Nvidia previously backed the company with a $125 million investment during its Series B funding round in 2023.

This move marks Nvidia’s largest talent acquisition since its $6.9 billion purchase of Mellanox in 2019, underscoring efforts to bolster AI infrastructure capabilities.
