Sparda is one of several strong characters in the Devil May Cry series and one of the strongest. It should come as no surprise that this demon warrior has crazy power because he is the father of Dante and Virgil. However, how did Sparda die?
Virgil is mentioned in practically every game in the Devil May Cry series, although it’s still unclear what happened to him. Given his link to the franchise’s storyline, this is all the stranger. Here is everything that is currently known regarding how or if Sparda passed away in the Devil May Cry series; however, not everything is clear.
How did Sparda die?
So, how did Sparda die? The Legendary Dark Knight is thought to have passed away, but it’s unclear how—despite Sparda being one of the strongest characters in the Devil May Cry series. As far as the law of the games are concerned, there is no knowledge regarding how Sparda was defeated, assuming he was, and anything to the contrary is probably fan theory.
After making an appearance in the twentieth century and fathering Dante and Virgil with his companion Eva, Sparda would vanish and is said to have passed away at some point afterward, but this has not been proven. Sparda’s fate was altered in the 2013 remake of Devil May Cry. Although he had been imprisoned by demons in this game to endure unending torment following the death of Eva, this game is not included in the timeline of the numbered games.

Regardless of the reason for this death’s mystery, we believe that whoever it was had to possess extraordinary strength to overthrow Sparda. Sparda accomplished amazing things during his lifetime by rebelling against his own demon race and shutting the portal to the demon realm.
Who is Sparda in the Devil May Cry universe?
Now that we answered your “How did Sparda die?” question let’s take a deeper look at the character. In the Devil May Cry series, Sparda serves as the series’ main character after his death. He was the legendary Dark Knight, a powerful demon swordsman.
He “woke up to justice” two thousand years before the present and fought Mundus and his army by himself. He purposefully buried himself and his own demonic strength inside the netherworld when he realized his power had gotten too strong.
Sparda would continue to have an impact on the world of humans, as evidenced by his rule as Feudal Lord of Fortuna and his marriage to Eva, who gave birth to his twin sons Dante and Vergil, before disappearing.

Sparda was a tall, gorgeous guy with blue eyes, a fresh face, and slicked-back white hair in his human form. He is depicted as donning a monocle over his left eye, a white cravat, a large red gem around his neck, and a purple Victorian costume. He would dress in armor like his demon form and ride into battle on a horse.
Sparda’s actual form was a somewhat larger-than-human, vaguely insectoid demon with clawed hands, a scaly hide, a pair of downward-facing ram horns, chiropteran wings with beetle-like wings underneath, hooves for feet, and reptilian spines sticking out of his back.
His torso had sections that looked greyscale with red and purple highlights. A red diamond eye-shaped jewel was set in the middle of his forehead, and he also wore gold knee and elbow guards that were shaped like a skull and had tiny horns. He also had gold veins on his hands, arms, chest, shoulders, and back.
